Freeworld Airways is a Virtual airline built around the flight simulator X-Plane.
Our aim is to give X-Plane users a highly realistic flying experience, simulating real-world airline operations for pilots who appreciate doing it just right.
Our routes are based on real-world flight plans and are verified by the local aviation authorities. Our rating system is based on pilot merit, not amount of hours flown. This means that a good pilot is not forced into flying small planes for an extended period of time while gaining hours.
Our pilots are welcome to fly on both IVAO and VATSIM, as well as just flying off-line.
We are based in Germany and the UK, with a route network stretching across 5 continents and bases in North America, Asia and the Pacific.
Our pilots have access to the best fleet available to an X-Plane VA consisting of none other than the outstanding aircraft by the X-Plane Freeware Project and XP Jets. We also provide utilities, add-ons, scenery packages, check-lists... Basically everything a pilot wants.
Please don't hesitate to browse our web-site, and visit our forums...
We hope you enjoy FreeWorld Airways!
FreeWorld has aquired X-ACARS, an interesting bit of new technology to monitor flights. As FreeWorld only elects the best pilots to fly it craft, we can now automatically approve your flights- without pilots needing to complete a full PIREP. Only fill in ATC contacted or other comments such as delays.
How does it work? Simple. It checks your flight data as you fly against preset values, looking at factors such as fight time, aircraft type and passenger comfort. So if you were to be 30 minutes late for a flight, or dive for the runway at 5000feet per minute - XACARS would not automatically approve your flight. We would then need to manually approve your flight and you would need to make it very clear why XACARS was not able to approve your flight.
The advantages are immediate approvals of your flight. The extra bit of adrenalin also helps you be your best and helps the airline keep its standards.
You must use the version provided in the downloads section, linked below. All flights reported using ACARS will be awarded an extra experience point, and all offline flights must be reported by ACARS. Manual reports will not take approximately 10 days to validate.
On May 2nd FreeWorld Airways will move its entire Milan operation from Linate to Malpensa airport. Our flights will operate from Terminal 1, piers B and C.
The decision to switch airports was made due to Malpensa`s bigger capacity and ability to handle larger aircraft increasing dispatch potential.
We recommend mentioning the requested terminal in Milan in the flight plan remarks for the first few months of operation.
2008-05-01 Paris airport change
Effective May 1st FreeWorld will operate the following routes from Paris Charles de Gaulle, Terminal 2B:
London Heathrow (FW1130-1135)
München (FW1280-1285)
Nice (FW1450/1451)
Toulouse (FW1456/1457)
This change does not apply to flights to/from London City, which remain at Paris Orly, South Terminal.
We recommend mentioning the requested terminal in Paris in the flight plan remarks for the first few months of operation.
2008-04-29 All new 777-200 arrives
Getaway may have ceased to exist last night, but the morning brings on brilliant new news! After a massive overhaul we have finally received our new 777-200ER, with new flight deck, livery, engines and a completely refitted cabin.
This is only a temporary measure however. You can expect a full object, version 9 optimised aircraft in the near future.
After over 3 years in operation, we regrettably announce that Getaway has ceased operations.
Over the past 3 years, the route system has grown to an substantially in excess of demand and this has resulted in load factors.
In the future, we may consider reopening a holiday/charter carrier, however for now, the workload involved in maintaining the aging getaway fleet would be too intensive.
The consolidation of our fleet will allow us to concentrate on fewer more advanced aircraft, with frequent updates, the first of which you will see in the near future.
Some Getaway destinations will be transferred to FreeWorld mainline but most will terminate.
